Four days after passing the driving exam, after a few phone calls, I went to Marrakesh with Brahim. We had a meeting the next day with the boss of a rental agency who had four Royal Enfield Himalayan motorbikes for sale, second-hand.
I booked into a very cheap hotel only about 200m from where we were to meet the man, Ali. Brahim went to visit some of his family.
At 9 am we met Ali and looked over the four bikes he was selling. I chose the one with the most scratches, but the least kilometres. It was also the one in the best mechanical condition, which is why I chose that one. In my head, I named her Kali, after a Hindu goddess who was also called "The Dark One". Kali the goddess was black, and so, too, was Kali the Himalayan.
