When the personnel at Bab El Atlas found out that I intended to get my motorcycle driving licence, they said that if I passed, then we would have a big party. In the excitement of not only passing my exam, but of buying my first real motorbike (the Docker doesn't count in my mind), I forgot the party.
The personnel and neighbours didn't forget.
I passed my theory test on the 15th of January, the driving exam on the 21st of January, bought the Himalayan (and rode home) on the 24th of January, and on the 25th, the house was suddenly full of women; some who work for us, some neighbours.
The women cooked like mad until about 1.30 pm, when more and more people arrived; drums started beating, plates of food were passed around, and people danced and sang. They brought out a birthday cake-cum-driving test cake with one candle.
It was an amazing party. At one time, I counted 60 people.
